You can say all you want about the wisdom of Gary entering what is obviously a two horse race, but what you can't say is that he is anything but a good guy.  Sure, he's just a truck driver.  Drives for Sealtest.  Delivers milk all around Muskoka.  He's not a lawyer or a professional of any sort but a more genuine and less complicated person you will never meet.  With Gary, and also I should include his wife Nancy, you get what you see . . . they are caring people that possess lots of simple wisdom and good hearts.  I'm sure there are lots of Gary's and Nancy's that live here in Huntsville that we never hear about.

Hugh Mackenzie at 67 is still a man driven, but in a controlled way.  He can be bold and shy at the same time.  A risk taker but no risk is taken without due consideration.

He wants you to know his history and is quite open about it, but there are areas he struggles with.  For example, I learned that he has a learning disability and has struggled with it all his life.  He is quick to point out that this does not equate with intelligence.  To the contrary it is often the opposite.  From an early age, because his brain is wired differently, he has had to learn to do things his own way.  Because of this he admits he is not academic.  He is self taught.  It is not that he can't do something it's just that he had to create his own path.  And like so many with handicaps, this has made him stronger.  It is obviously a key to his success and a major influence in the direction of his life and his work.

Huntsville.  We have all arrived here from somewhere else . For Claude Doughty it was from the little town of Walkerton where he was born and raised.  An agricultural town of just 3,000 people.  A town where his father had a clothing store.  A store where Claude worked part time from an early age.  A family he valued so much that even when he had finished college, living far away and in his own practice he was lured back to help in the store over the Christmas rush.

I kept up with the news in town over the summer by reading the Forester.  Thank god I didn't have to rely on what was reported in their pages to keep the Online interesting.  There wasn't much going on so you didn't miss much having me on sabbatical.  Summer is a time for cottaging and water sports.  Not a lot of analysis needed for those activities. 

But there were two items that caught my attention, neither of which got any more than a report in the local media.  What was lacking and disappointing was any editorial opinion . . . just a listing of the facts.  No critical analysis;  not my idea of journalism.
